Client Showcase: G. Kofi Designs Online Store

The client showcase is back once again! This time, I’m pleased to share a business that I have been working with for the past couple months to bring their online sales strategy up to speed. That business is G. Kofi House of Fashion. The team at G. Kofi House of Fashion has a unique and business model that connects textile artisans from Ghana with buyers in the U.S. who are looking to purchase fine handmade cloth goods. By doing this, they pursue their mission, which is to promote and preserve the rich heritage and traditions of African culture, and to share them with the world.

Project Goals

Through a series of talks with the director of the business, I was able to get the project goals nailed down. This business had been through a series of several different websites in years past. Most of the past websites looked like they came from the early era of the internet, and had never been updated. They were also implemented in static html files, meaning that whenever the owners wanted to make a change, they had to modify the website source code. More recently, the business had migrated to a google site, which at least had a somewhat modern look, but the only functionality it had was a contact form!

The old site’s primary feature… a very google-y contact form!

Based on these past sites, and conversations with the owner, it was clear what this business needed. A modern, polished ecommerce site with a clean administration interface, easy-to use tools, and integrations with software that will get the business on the map. With that in mind, I set about creating a WooCommerce website for G. Kofi House of Fashion.

Site Features

gkofihouseoffashion.com is a fully featured ecommerce site, with all the features you would expect. Products can be created and listed on the site, products can be added to categories and tagged with tags, full billing support is implemented, shipping and tax rates are dynamically determined at checkout, and much more. The site also has a working contact form and email notifications thanks to the SendGrid integration I set up.

Wrapping Things Up

My client was very pleased with the final site that I delivered to him. The website was a significant upgrade to the old website he had been doing business with. Because I am providing ongoing support for this client’s website by providing managed web hosting, I plan for our beneficial relationship to continue for many years.
